Can Your Gym Appeal To All Ages?

The past few years have brought its own challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic, but we’ve seen that the fitness industry is ever adapting – no matter what hurdles it comes across. This is why it’s important to make sure you’re in the know to adapt accordingly.

There are plenty of opportunities to increase membership, revenue and conversions. Get equipped for the future with the right tool kit.

What’s changed?

That’s what we wanted to find out in our consumer research with Untangled.* We found many changes in what gym goers want and how they work out pre- and post-pandemic.

There are three key areas we found that gym owners and managers should focus on…

  • Price
Cost over the past 2+ years, and now more than ever, has been a sticking point for many – especially when it comes to ‘nice to have’ extras and hobbies. Members want to save money and have flexibility.
  • Perceptions
The importance of health and fitness has been elevated since the pandemic began for most. Gym goers are looking at new ways to train, to aid their mental and physical wellbeing.
  • Proximity
With more people working from home, members who once commuted into an office in a  city or commercial location are now working from home and looking to attend a local gym. Less commuting = more ‘you time’.

You may not be too surprised with these changed priorities given how the world has shifted. It’s important to look at the bigger picture – how workout habits have changed and how you can use this to your advantage, acquire new members and retain existing members.

51% of people said that COVID-19 has changed the way they exercise forever.

In our guide, we go through the research, break it down and give you key ways that you can flip these changes to enhance your business for a successful 2022 and beyond.
